About

This area is still under construction. The basic setup of each house connected is listed below. Most of the houses are straight forward LAN or wLAN setups.

Main House

This is the main house which has a high speed connection to the Internet via a T1 line from Verizon. Most computers are wired with cat5 to one of the three hubs. There are also some wireless devices that access the network via the wireless LAN. At some point I will replace the Hubs with switches. One Hub and the Cisco router as well as some machines are on a UPS back power system from APC.

Client Houses

Most of the client houses are setup this way. Each house has a WAP11 linking it to the main house. The WAP11 is connected using a cross over cable to a BEFW11S4 which then provides routing and a firewall for the computers located in the house. To prevent interference with the main link the BEFW11S4 runs on a different channel than the WAP11.

I had a lot of questions asking about the WAP11 to BEFW11S4 setup. Here is a diagram of the setup which should answer most questions.

Other Possibilities

The WAP11 in client mode can be wired in other ways as well. Here are two of them.
